Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

FrancaisUp respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices and rights available to you when you use FrancaisUp.

For questions about this Privacy Policy or your personal data, contact us at contact@francaisup.fr.

1. Information we collect

When you use FrancaisUp, we may collect:

Account information. Your email address, login credentials and information associated with signing in through supported third-party authentication services.

Exam preparation information. Your approximate exam date, test answers, scores, results, progress, completed exercises, attempts and other information generated through your use of the Service.

Content you submit. This includes written answers and other content you provide when completing exercises or requesting automated feedback.

Voice recordings. When you take the speaking part of a practice exam, your spoken answers are recorded and stored so they can be transcribed and assessed, and so that you can listen to them in your results.

Usage and technical information. We may collect information about how you interact with FrancaisUp, such as pages visited, features used, actions performed, device and browser information, IP address and similar technical information.

Payment information. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers. FrancaisUp does not store your full payment card details.

2. How we use your information

We use your personal data to:

  • create and manage your account;
  • provide and personalise the FrancaisUp service, including saving your progress and providing results and feedback;
  • process purchases and manage access to paid services;
  • operate, maintain, secure and improve FrancaisUp;
  • understand how the Service is used and evaluate its performance;
  • communicate with you about FrancaisUp and our services;
  • send marketing communications where permitted by applicable law; and
  • comply with applicable legal obligations.

Where required by applicable data protection law, we process personal data on the basis of providing the Service you have requested, our legitimate interests in operating and improving FrancaisUp, your consent, or compliance with our legal obligations.

3. Automated and AI-assisted feedback

Some FrancaisUp features use automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to analyse answers submitted by users and provide feedback.

When you use these features, the content you submit may be processed by third-party technology providers acting on our behalf.

Voice recordings from the speaking part are sent to a third-party speech-to-text provider acting on our behalf, so that they can be transcribed before the transcription is assessed.

We may change the technology providers used to deliver these features over time. We require service providers handling personal data on our behalf to process it in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.

Automated feedback is provided for educational and preparation purposes and should not be considered an official DELF assessment or guarantee of an examination result.

4. Analytics and advertising

We may use analytics, measurement and advertising technologies to understand how FrancaisUp is used, improve the Service, measure marketing performance and reach people who may be interested in FrancaisUp.

Where these technologies require consent, they are activated only after you have made the appropriate choice through our cookie controls.

More information is available in our Cookie Settings.

5. Payments

Payments are processed by third-party payment providers.

Payment providers process payment information according to their own privacy policies and legal obligations. FrancaisUp does not receive or store your complete payment card details.

We may receive limited transaction information necessary to confirm your purchase, provide access to the Service, handle refunds or disputes, and maintain financial records.

6. Communications

We may use your contact information to send you service-related communications and, where permitted by applicable law, information about FrancaisUp, our services, features and offers.

You can opt out of marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails. You will continue to receive essential service-related communications where necessary.

7. Cookies

FrancaisUp uses cookies and similar technologies for essential site functionality and, with your consent where required, analytics and advertising.

You can accept, reject or manage optional cookies through our cookie controls and change your preferences later through Cookie Settings.

See our Cookie Policy for more information.

8. How we share information

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share information with service providers necessary to operate FrancaisUp, including providers of hosting and infrastructure, authentication, payment processing, communications, analytics, advertising, security and automated or AI-assisted functionality.

We may also disclose information when required by law, necessary to protect our rights or users, or in connection with a reorganisation, acquisition or transfer of the business.

9. International data transfers

Our core infrastructure and data storage are located in the European Union.

Some service providers may process information from other countries. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we use appropriate safeguards where required by applicable law.

10. How long we keep your information

We retain account information, test history, answers, results and other information associated with your use of FrancaisUp for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and maintain your account and the Service.

If you request deletion of your account, we aim to delete or anonymise personal data that is no longer required within 30 days, unless we need to retain certain information for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, security or dispute-resolution purposes.

Voice recordings from the speaking part are deleted automatically 30 days after the exam. Their transcription and the assessment remain in your results.

Some information may also remain temporarily in secure backups until those backups are overwritten according to our normal retention cycle.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to request access, correction or deletion of your information, restrict or object to certain processing, request portability of your data, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise your rights, contact contact@francaisup.fr.

12. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

13. Children and younger users

FrancaisUp may be used by learners of different ages.

Where applicable law requires parental or guardian authorisation for the processing of a younger user’s personal data, the user should use the Service only with the required authorisation.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as FrancaisUp evolves or as legal requirements change. The latest version will always be available on this page, with its most recent update date.
